OVERVIEW

THE WINNER OF THE 2013 "YÉOL YOUNG CRAFTSMAN AWARD" KWANGHO LEE HAS MADE INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS WITH CREATIVE INTERPRETATIONS OF TRADITIONAL MATERIALS. HIS FURNITURE HAS BEEN CRAFTED OUT OF LACQUER COATED BRONZE INCLUDING ORIGINAL TREATMENTS OF SURFACE TEXTURES. HIS CREATIONS SEEM TO STRIKE THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN WHAT IS MOST FUNCTIONAL AND WHAT IS MOST BEAUTIFUL. YÉOL COMMISSIONED ME AS A PHOTOGRAPHER TO DOCUMENT KWANGHO LEE’S AWARD-WINNING FURNITURE IN A CREATIVE WAY. FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHS WE PUT THE FURNITURE ON DISPLAY IN AN ABANDONED HOUSE IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA. WITHIN THIS SAME LOCATION I ALSO SHOT A SHORT FILM TOGETHER WITH ADAM HOBBS TO SHOWCASE ALSO HIS WORK THROUGH MOVING IMAGERY AND TO PAY HOMAGE KWANGHO LEE’S OUTSTANDING WORK.
