Audience award winner at PREMIERS COURTS

Good News! URBAN ISLAND, a documentary music video by Nils Clauss and Namhui Park, just won the AUDIENCE AWARD at the French international film festival PREMIERS COURTS with 70% of the votes. The video features the song VARÚÐ by Icelandic band SIGUR RÓS.

The story focuses on a homeless man in his forties, who has lived on the streets of Seoul for more than 8 years. He has been part of a small homeless community for the past four years, which camps out in a little park next to the train tracks of Yongsan Station. As the man strictly refuses to receive charity, he frequents the city streets each night to make a living by collecting recyclables.

Urban Island at PREMIERS COURTS

The French international film festival PREMIERS COURTS will screen URBAN ISLAND within their official program on the 21st of November.

URBAN ISLAND is a cross-over of a music video and documentary by Nils Clauss and Namhui Park for the song VARÚÐ by Icelandic band SIGUR RÓS. It is a portrait of a homeless man in his forties, who has lived on the streets of Seoul for more than 8 years. Documentary in PYONGYANG, NORTH KOREA

Between the 5th and 10th of November 2012 the Goethe-Institut Korea arranged a unique visit of the Munich Chamber Orchestra (MKO) with conductor Alexander Liebreich in Pyongyang, North Korea. As guests at the Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory the orchestra was working on a concert program together with North Korean music students playing Joseph Haydn, Witold Lutosławski next to a traditional folk song called Doraji, which is part of the standard repertoire in North and South Korea alike. In addition to joint orchestra rehearsals the Goethe-Institut Korea and the MKO arranged chamber music classes. After 3 days of rehearsals the German-Korean ensemble performed the works in a closing concert at the Pyongyang conservatory.

Nils Clauss was kindly invited by the Goethe-Institut Korea to join and document this special event in form of a short documentary.

Music Video: Nana D. LOSE AGAINST YOU

LOSE AGAINST YOU is the new single by singer/songwriter Nana D. In collaboration with director Max von Lux, Nils Clauss worked as a cinematographer on the production of the above official music video. The video is a portrait of a cat in search of it’s birth-mother, after having found out that it has been adopted.
